Social media platforms don't care about accuracy. All they want is people on their sites.

Apologies @noisette47 , I just did something on autopilot this morning and thought "I forgot to mention that"...
You probably know already, but if you click on the hamburger (3 line menu icon) and choose feeds, you can see just groups, just friends etc. For when the suggested posts get too much! It always reverts, unfortunately.

FB is a tool which has its uses for certain situations. I don't use it to track friends or celebrities but it was useful for having face to face conversations with Possum while she was still in Belgium, especially when on her own during Covid. We have a family group set up in Messenger for OH, Possum and me to pass on info or confirm activities because she can't use her personal mobile phone at work so doesn't get texts till it's too late but she can see FB messages on her work PC.

In Belgium, I joined FB simply to set up groups for our assorted dance classes to share videos of the new steps. Easier than constantly updating our website. Here, the dance club uses a Whatsapp group for each class but it just shares videos and allows no chat.

I follow one or two interest groups - local events, gardening and cooking - and find some interesting sewing and crafting ideas. Everything else can be scrolled past, ignored or switched off for 30 days.

FB is like my oven and washing machine - loads of features I'll never use and a good workhorse for what I do most. It doesn't have to be on every day and you can limit your own activity.

I'm basically on Facebook just for a few groups for holiday destinations we go to regularly. I was once accused of being a troll because I only have about 20 friends on FB and apparently "real people have hundreds of friends". I think I confused them when I said "No. I have 'real' friends on FB not hundreds of fake friends I've never met and never will"

Aaaarrgghhh! They're at it again! I'm religiously masking all the unwanted stuff from my timeline and started having a clearout of one-off contacts made through Messenger, so now they've started filling my contacts list with complete strangers. :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging: Not 'suggestions' for 'friends' which I did manage to stop a while ago, but adding names to my contacts FGS. It's persecution is what it is ....:roflol:
