I seem to be getting glaring spots on my sunrise photos. How do I get rid of it?I am not sure if the sun has damaged my camera with all the work it has to do...any ideas would be appreciated...

Take an ordinary photo without bright sunlight and see if you can see any glaring spots. Some subject like grass or even a plain wall or carpet will do.

If you still have glaring spots then you have damaged the camera and it means a new one. However, just wait and see because it is unlikely as you have been taking sunsets or sunrise through clouds. Damage is much more lkely if you try taking photos of unshielded sun when it is higher in the sky.

Hb thanks the only problem i find with this camera i am forever changing the settings and end up taking the same shot about 4 times on different settings and its worse in low light or dark like the shots i took from the window last night when it was snowing.

I took some photos of the frosted grass this morning and a frosted iris and they seem fine.I do tend to zoom in when taking the sun pictures and thought I had ruined the camera. If you look at the water photos and the one of the road you will see abit of glaring.I try to move the camera to lose them while taking the photos, but cannot get rid of it..
Thanks for the advice though [IMG]

You will always get lens flare when shooting into any bright light source. Personally, I wouldn't zoom in on the sun. Zoom shots always carry more wobble - ever tried holding a telescope still?

Take a lesser zoomed photo and then enlarge it on your computer by cropping. When we reduce the size of photos to get them to fit on GC, we compress them and throw away hundreds of pixels from all over the photo. If instead you crop away the unwanted parts of your photo, you throw away only the pixels that you don't want. That leaves you with a nice close up of your sun without the poor resolution you get when you automatically shrink the whole photo.

Hope that's clear - it is so difficult to explain things sometimes

I shall take your advice, though My hubby will probably do the cropping.I found the effect with the wobbly sun tail quite good for my photos.I try to experiment on different ways of taking them to see how they turn out as you can see with my photos. Some people might not like the effect but I quite like it.It is all a learning curve with having a digi camera...

:D Thanks LoL... It was such a beautiful sunset that day I sat & watched it.. Had the camera set up & just took photos every few minutes for the different changes in colours.. This is the most vivid of the lot... The best this year I think as far as sunsets go for me down here... :D
