    Hi scooby-mas,

you lucky devil, those peonies looked drop dead-they are my favourite flower and what I know about them is somewhat limited but here goes,

They do NOT mind the sun, they just don`t like it all day long-especially morning and early afternoon. the best side is a west facing side of the garden-but yours look very healthy so must be enjoying it where they are, and they don`t like being too packed together either. When they have finished flowering you remove the flower head back to a suitable leaf. You should now feed-I use fish blood and bone, and mulch with compost-around the base but not within the base of the stems-next yrs shoots can rot. remove anything which looks a bit brown or manky but dont compost those parts they can pass on a fungal disease. if you want to support the next yrs flowers-they can get very heavy and flop over you should do so in spring, but on this i havent any good advice as i am still in experimental stages with mine as far as supporting them ( i will probably opt for a small variegated pieris though).

I am going to divide my peonies this yr as i will be devoting an entire bed to them nest summer, so if i have any new stuff to report i will.

Again, you have the chief of all flowers there.

    lucky, lucky you

I would just remove the dead flower, and leave the leaves to build up the plant for next year. Then get rid of the stalks and leaves once they have died down (I suppose late Autumn would do, we never get around to it until fairly well into the winter, but I would want to have it done before any growth restarts in teh spring).

Hi Kristen, I never remove the foliage on mine, do you think I should be doing. I thought they needed the sunlight for photosynthesis and thereby increasing tuber size? I don`t want to be doing anything not right
