Took Maddie for last walk in daylight at 4-30, hoping to get a decent walk before the onslaught, no such luck 2 bangers close by.
Think it`s a local party tonight, as seem to be a glow in back gardens behind me.

I think we are going to have it extended even further this year, as it is Diwali next week isn't it?

Diwali (or Deepavali, the "festival of lights") is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) or Spring (southern hemisphere) every year.[3][4] Diwali is one of the largest and brightest festivals in India. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of good over evil.[5][6][7] The preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November.

Before Diwali night, people clean, renovate, and decorate their homes and offices.[8] On Diwali night, Hindus dress up in new clothes or their best outfit, light up diyas (lamps and candles) inside and outside their home, participate in family puja (prayers) typically to Lakshmi – the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Afterpuja, fireworks follow,[9] then a family feast including mithai(sweets), and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends. Deepavali also marks a major shopping period in nations where it is celebrated.[10]

Diwali is an important festival for Hindus. The name of festive days as well as the rituals of Diwali vary significantly among Hindus, based on the region of India. In many parts of India,[11] the festivities start with Dhanteras(in Northern & Western part of India), followed by Naraka Chaturdasi on second day, Deepavali on the third day, Diwali Padva dedicated to wife–husband relationship on the fourth day, and festivities end with Bhau-beejdedicated to sister–brother bond on the fifth day. Dhanterasusually falls eighteen days after Dussehra.

On the same night that Hindus celebrate Diwali, Jains celebrate a festival of lights to mark the attainment of moksha byMahavira,[12][13] and Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas. Diwali is an official holiday in Nepal, India,[14] Sri Lanka, Myanmar,Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia,Singapore, Fiji, and the Australian external territory of Christmas Island.

Not a single bang, whizz or pop here....thank goodness. :dbgrtmb:

On my way home I drove through the villages there was a big firework display in Barrow on the playing field, that's too far away from here to disturb us thank goodness :phew: . But I was so surprised to see two people out walking their dogs!

I'm reminded of : the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month".

Nothing to do with Diwali, but "lest we forget".

And so it continues, not many, but 1 enough to traumatise Maddie.

You might want to try the Adaptil @pamsdish - it is working quite well for us, and we are only using the spray. I might get the plug in or the collar for next year.

Will get them ready for next year, hopefully we don`t get diwali here, not many of that persuasion in Wales, New Year and Christmas soon over in minutes. But will get the collar ready for next year. Either that or put her in kennels, the one i use is very isolated, no fireworks, they are packed out this time of year, I am at my wits end, 3/4 drunk just had a very stiff V&T, I have had enough, another edit, I mean mentally not v&t wise.you wouldn`t believe the amount of editing I have done as I mis-type. Final edit, that reads as a terrible hotchpotch, but like all drunks I know what I mean.

Just a heads up adaptil works at its best if you build it up for a few days before hand so that its already working before the fireworks start.

They dont work for every animal tho.

I started Maddie on the tranquilisers, 3 weeks before Nov even started, they have to build up also, so I would do the same with the collar, think they last about a month, so would put it on her 2nd week Oct, to run over the weekend following the 5th.
