Organised displays are definitely the way to go.
Our display has run for 20 years and has approx 8000 attendees. No incidents to date due to correct organisation, marshalling and involvement of local emergency services.
I have noticed this year has had very few rogue banger incidents than usual - maybe because the local Trading Standards have raided and closed down a group of wholesale storage units in the area.
The sales through Supermarkets seems to be a lot quieter this year as well.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ORGANISED DISPLAY- you know it makes sense!

Very quiet around here this year . Luckily Maya is not afraid of fireworks . Also at one time you had fireworks everynight , mainly Air-Bombs , for a month before. You don't get that now , luckily. One of the local pubs had 2 firework displays last night , an early and a late one, and is having another two on Monday. problem is they are 5 deep at the bar , and I prefer beer to fireworks !

Two of my dogs are terrified of fireworks so I hate this time of year.

At least they are inside though, I really feel sorry for the wildlife. I'll never forget one New Year's Eve looking out of the bedroom window at the fireworks and seeing a fox which was clearly terrified, shooting across the lawn :frown:

I personally would like to see them banned altogether, although realistically that is never going to happen, so the only alternative is organised displays with restricted days/hours on which they can happen. At least that would minimise the damage.

Only a few days ago a local Salford boy got hold of an 'onion bomb' which aren't even supposed to be on sale to the public, with dire consequences.

Got woken up yesterday morning at 5.46am by 2 very loud bangs that must have woken everyone up in Battle within a half mile radius.
Then went to dinner with friends last night - all 8 of us had a rather stressful evening trying to distract their Springer Cocker "Sprocket" from going ape. He got so bad at one time I though he would pass out with his panting and wild eyed look. He got exhausted and laid by me and sat on my feet and legs. My black trousers were thick with his fur and I have had to brush and wash them this morning. he even hates it when his master snaps twigs to lay a fire in the wood burner! He's OK outside in a thunderstorm but no good indoors,
      Jenny

Please look out for your cats and dogs and anyother critters that you keep like chickens. This time of year can be horrendous for animals. Please take care of them all if you can.

I got woken up by 2 rockets going off, they were real though, I was in Jerusalem just after the six day war.

I'm hoping that tonight will be somewhat quieter as the weather is colder and its been pretty damp all day.

It's Sunday- last night was probably the prime option for a fireworks party.

Tomorrow's the true day for Guy Fawkes celebrations. So, expect another stressful doggy night,

Kicked off again here too - not quite at the level of last night (yet), but still enough to make our wee man uncomfortable.

Doubt we'll see much respite at all to be honest as Diwali is on 13th November this year.
