First allotment

    probably best not to "force" the Rhubarb this year then - it will weaken them, and not ideal if they have been re-planted - better they spend the first year getting their strength back. Forcing one plant, each year in rotation, would be an idea though.

    Thanks for the advice like you say I will not this year then is it still ok to harvest it this year then

    Yes. But I recommend that you don't get too carried away though, and the shorter the time that the plant is out of the ground the less energy it will use "staying alive" - so the more you can harvest. Rhubarb is tough as old boots, but a mature root will produce masses of crop ... a young plant less so ... and what you want is to not stress it after replanting so that it gets back to being a happy, mature, root producing masses of leaves :)

    With three plants you should be able to take a few stalks off each plant thereby leaving some on each to allow the plant to produce energy.

    I covered some ground at the plot with carpets last year...forgetting there was a Rhubarb there...just lifted those carpets to dig the now weed free ground...and there was th rhubarb...buds an all !

    Tough indeed !
