I agree with your thinking PeterS, but I favour changing the "total of active ingredients" to "the total volume once diluted ass per instructions". I suppose if you put a litre of diluted feed on, as per manufacturers recommended dilution rates, and one has twice as much "stuff" as the other, then it ought to do a lot more good!, so maybe two columns - total volume at "manufactures dilution rate" and "total of active ingredients"

Not sure - Kristen. My costs were for the dry weight chemicals. I am not sure why one manufacturer would recommend a greater dilution than another. I think that they are all essentially the same chemicals.

Good point. Horses for courses then :)

I do think it would be a useful resource, here, to have a price-comparison chart.

I think Tomorite is expensive, relatively speaking, for example.

Actually Kristen, I think there are various ways that you could compare products. Its a very imprecise science. I don't think any layman knows exactly what nutrients a plant needs or how much.

But I think, as we have both done, its worth reading the details on the box and comparing it with others - with the aid of a calculator.

Just another question. Most brugs that I have seen that are kept outdoors look half eaten which yours doesnt. I keep mine in the greenhouse. Does yours stay outdoors?

Hi Averil, thanks :), the pot is a little larger than it appears in the photo. This is the first time I've grown them so I don't know how long the buds take to open, but they are getting bigger by the day. Mine is kept in a greenhouse with some shading and the door is completely open (has been all summer), so its getting some protection from the elements; mainly the sun as they're sensitive to heat, but it is moved out on dull days occasionally. I have had to be vigilant with the old slugs and snails as they're are a lot about this year, even in the greenhouse as the door is open but so far I'm winning :dbgrtmb:

Aw great stuff Bilbo. I keep mine in the greenhouse now as well and it seems to be thriving. Dead exciting eh to get buds on your first brug. I had never actually seen one before, but i was on the Isle of Wight last week and went to Osborne House and they had them in the greenhouse, (I believe victorians were fond of them) and the scent from them was absolutely amazing. Keep on winning against those horrible slugs :yay:
