Yes, you can take cuttings, but the wood will be "juvenile" form, so will have to grow until it Forks before it flowers.

    This is Good & Bad!

Brug flowers hang down, so taller plants are often preferred so that the flowers can be enjoyed by looking "up" to them ...

... it takes then longer before they flower.

Thats looking really good Angelina. We have had a very wet summer, and as a consequence have had millions of slugs - and I have holes all over my Brug leaves to prove it.

Looking good Angelina :dbgrtmb:.....mine was looking a little worse for wear after last weeks storm, it got blown around a bit and lost a few leaves and quite a few flower buds after being blown over. So today I've tidied it up and cut it back (I would have left it another few weeks weather permitting but nevermind), just enough to fit in the greenhouse, hopefully now it'll overwinter well..:)

Even though the night temperatures have been down to 4C recently, I have more Brugmansias about to flower that I had at any time during the summer.

Mine was the same Peter, there were about 6 flowers open and dozens of other buds of various sizes but most were knocked off or damaged last week when it 'hit the deck' :frown:

Yes, me too. Mine had flowers on them when I went for a "wander" yesterday, which surprised me. I've been thinking of bringing them in for over a week now ...

The pot is in the summer greenhouse now, feeling fine.
The other plant got chilled in the first frost, but I'll cut it back and protect it soon.
Hope it survises the season. :blue thumb:

Rather strong and sweet aroma, Peter. :blue thumb:
And two more buds coming on the top forked branches. :hapydancsmil:

Brilliant Angelina. Brugmansias don't seem to mind the cold, so you could find that it will continue to flower until it is hit by frost. Sadly I had to cut off loads of flower buds when I put them in a shed for the winter.

You will probably now appreciate that Brugmansia flowers on the apical tip, ie the tip of the stem. So when the first flower bud starts to grow its on the tip of the main stem and its this that forces the plant to fork as it can't continue in a straight line upwards. So strickly speaking the first flower bud comes first, and then the stem forks afterwards. But because the flower bud takes so long to develop, it always seems that the flower comes after the stem has forked.
