These 'rocket' tatoes, I've worked out from what I've read here that they take under 3 months from planting to harvest, and are ready to come out in time to still get peas and broad beans in. Is that right? If it is then I'm well chuffed, because that means I've learned not one but two new excellent plants in one day.

Hi Clueless, yes Rocket matures very quickly, typically 12 weeks, I normally put them in at the beginning of March and lift at the beginning of June. This year they went in late (early April) because of the cold weather but were still ready by this last week.

One thing to watch with Rocket and some other 'early' varieties is that they don't always flower or there may only be odd ones amongst the whole lot so you may have to scrape some soil away to check their progress.

The empty patch I have now after lifting my Rocket spuds is now going to be occupied with pumpkins, but only after I've added plenty of well rotted manure and chicken manure pellets back into the soil :dbgrtmb:

I agree with Bilbo. It's a great early crop, so you can get a second crop off the same plot in one season. I always follow my early spuds with leeks, but peas/beans would be good too.

Time for a furtle loli :)

As Bilbo says they don't always flower. Mine had tiny flower buds forming so maybe I was a bit early, but we have quite a few plants and they are nice smaller.
