It'll be interesting as to how these 'Brexit' price increases affect the CPI versus RTPI, now that the former is used for increasing many occupational pensions and (some?) benefits.

The triple-lock guarantees that pensions rise by the same as average earnings, the consumer price index, or 2.5%, whichever is the highest,.

So my guess is that these 'Brexit' increases will increase the CPI higher than RTPI, possibly ensuring an even better financial outlook for State Pensioners, and those with index linked pensions.

Far more serious than Bovril or Teabags....Mondelez, the manufacturers of Toblerone have announced that as a direct result of Brexit, UK market ones will decrease in size. The 400g ones will become 360g, and 170g ones 150g....

Will this result in smugglers bringing them into the UK instead of immigrants, I wonder. Far safer, and its still legal to eat all the evidence...:roflol:

It's happened already, but shop around as the 150g ones are £1 in Tesco and £1.50 in Sainsburys! (perhaps this is why Sainsburys abandoned their 'Brand Match') http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/tesc....html?TrackingCode=121.-vysl7S-ukSAhRILKTxcEw

But the bigger 360g bars are cheaper at Morrisons and Asda http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/tesc....html?TrackingCode=121.Aa06V8hrUEe3zOkI4XYcTw

The 170g ones are £1 each from Poundland, you have to buy 10, but Toblerone fans will see that as an advantage http://www.poundland.co.uk/toblerone-milk-170g

It's the same with Marmite, shop around and you'll find some places are actually selling it for less than before these so called Brexit price increases. A lot of this is just newspaper stories. Shop around!

Having said that, if you find any really good deals on non-perishable stuff with long expiry dates, then stock up, as you'll get a far, far better return on your investment than any money put in a savings deposit account.

None of it is anything to do with brexit.

The pound is up and down because those that play the markets are influencing it for their own gains.

And just when people started to settle down so things could start to stabilise, an investment fund manager, backed by a french owned law firm, goes and fights democracy in court and wins, meaning that once again nobody has a clue whats going to happen .

Of course it is; the £ is way down. Look at the figures. Everything that is imported will cost around 20% more so almost everything manufactured or dependent on imports for that manufacture, if made here, will be more expensive.

I sincerely hope, however it comes about, that Brexit will never happen, not only because of the economic impact, but everything else. I love Europe!:grphg:

Of course it is. Thats what i said. You look at the figures. The pound spiked just before the result, which conveniently facilitated a massive drop when the news broke.

Then it rallied. But then as its recovering, Mark Carney, a Canadian, stepped forth to spout tales of woe, and the pound dropped again. Then loads of world leaders offered to do business with Britain, the pound rose a bit. The EU said no deals until we're out. Pound falls. Official statistics show no impact. Pound rises. Some investment manager and a team of French lawyers contest our democracy in court. Pound briefly rises then people realise it means now we dont know when or what is going to happen. Pound falls.

All while some get richer and the poor get poorer.
