The markets hate uncertainty. Whilst small gains can be made using short term trades the really money comes from long term growth. Nobody is manipulating the markets, they are simply reacting.
It got worse today when the US elected a president who has stated that he will introduce protectionist legislation to try and help American industry.

The us dollar has weakened against the £ with the election of Trump - perhaps the price of marmite will now come down....every cloud has a silver lining :dbgrtmb:

I always wonder why the markets, and prices, change so quickly. It's a well known fact amongst pundits that the initial reaction to sudden economic changes always heads in the opposite way you would imagine them going. This is because people think they can take advantage of the change - or they panic and try to get out or hedge their bets. The ones that make the real money are those who successfully predict the way things are going to go and take steps to take advantage of it before it happens.

Sounds like gobbledegook but the ones in the know, or are good gamblers, end up winning.

That's the way it has always been and will always be!

It doesn't have to be just those in the financial markets/banks but those who try to guess what will happen and do it succesfully.

Many years ago a street market trader said to me that if he had all his money taken away from him he would still be doing well within two years because he can spot an opportunity for miles!

            Breaking news ....

The next product to downsize will be KitKats. Rowntree have announced that when Article 50 is triggered they will mark the event by changing them to either one or two fingers.
