I use "Stronghold", its similar to frontline but works on worms and mange, as well, due to the fact that we've got some foxes around here.

I think Frontline is only available from vets except we have an agricultural place here that actually sells it cheaper than the vet ... but don't think that's available there.

I only use Frontline because Magic Sam has a British Pet Passport (as did Skwij and Puscka) but the little uns don't have such yet as we're not sure if we'll take them to the UK. For the UK requirements of travel you can ONLY use Frontline.

going to bath rosa in the morning to clean her coat and re-apply spot on, its working and she is not itching so i guess i,m on top of it, she looks a happier little dog as they must of been driving her nuts the scratching she had been doing. getting her a flea collar and the shampoo has a flea repellent in it.

The best thing anyone can do is prevent fleas ...then you wont need expensive flea preperations..i have owned 3 retrievers and lived in rural areas and city areas with them all..and i have had one sheep tick in total..because i prevent fleas from attacking my dogs..The dog i have now was homeopathically reared and doesnt have chemicals at all..so i just use natural products on him..

We just got back in from buying some Frontline Combo (fleas and eggs) was 13,20 for three pipettes, that's about £9.24, so mine will all be "pipetted" tonight! :D

You can buy Frontline Spot-on online without prescription now and it's often much cheaper than from the vet. One place I use is VetMedic.co.uk but there are lots of other online pharmacies which also sell it.

Products available in petshops are a complete waste of money IMHO and using several different products at the same time such as sprays, shampoos, collars etc can be quite harmful to your pet.

If your cat/dog has fleas then you can guarantee that they are already in your house - in carpets, soft furnishings, pet beds etc - so you will need a good quality spray to treat the entire house such as Vetkem Acclaim. This only needs to be applied once a year and costs approx £13 a can, sufficient for a 3 bed house.

I cant understand how fleas can live in carpets and your entire house as they just survive on our pet, since rosa has had fleas i,ve just had 3 off her, I now check her regularily and spray her to keep on top of the problem, as far as i know she is free of them now, she now wears a flea collar that has protection for at least 5 months. Hi pf! That's a good link and I would seriously consider it if I was still in the UK. I am horrified at the price increases over the last few years for such products.

As mentioned above, I just paid under a tenner for 3 pippets of a combo which is not even mentioned (or I missed it!) in the on-line service.

I also have a spray can from here .. without looking it was that in Euros so 1/3 less a couple of years ago.

Rosa, sweetie, they jump off our darlings and find warm places elsewhere! [IMG] [IMG] Cuddle and kiss (abraco e beijo) to my Little Rosa!

LoL i have been told the fleas only can survive on our pets they live on them and as soon as they leave the pets they cant survive. [IMG] I do hate my little darling being invaded by these nasty little critters

Me and you too, sweetie! I am horrified at the thought of my babes with such critters ... especially since they all sleep in bed with us ....  and  again!

To be honest, I don't know what to believe ... but I believe I believe it here where it's much cheaper ... if you know what I mean? [IMG]

Rosa be careful with flea collars, especially if your using other products - the chemical and compination of chemicals can make your pet sick - as I found with one of mine.

Frontline works for me - I use it preventively i.e. every two months on Bonnie. It worked fine for his predecessors as well, both cats and dogs.

However if Rosa has had fleas, you really need to spray carpets and bedding til Frontline takes effect - remember remember are quite happy in carpets and bedding, settling on Rosa or you for a feed when hungry.
