I have mixed feelings about the multicoloured polys.
They are cheerful little things that look like they just want to have fun but they look so damned artificial! They remind me of the "pink" n bling girls you see tottering around town centres on a Friday night.

Have recently moved house and find myself with a garden full of bluebells - does anybody want them? Just a plague as far as I'm concerned. Also agree with the comments re multi-coloured polyanthus and Alchemilla.........

Yep! agree Sarra - we have a purple Buddleia and it attracts loads of butterflies- they are lovely to see.
It is well pruned every year so it doesn't get straggly.

Plants I don't especially like are orchids! Some of them aren't even pretty - well I think not.

And has anybody grown these - Stapelia - they stink

Makka you are obviously not a gardener because as far as I am concerned all flowers, plants, shrubs and trees are all beautiful in one way or another. What one person finds unattractive another will find delight in it. [IMG]

I am just glad that I am fortunate to have my own piece of land where I can grow all the plants that will attract Birds,Bees,Butterflies, and Insects. To me that is heaven on earth

As I said Kandy, we will all disagree here except I agree with the plants I don't like others will love. Nobody's right or wrong it's just what you like and I still want one of those stinky stapelias. They will go with my amorphophalluses (amorphophalli?) (Dead horse plants).

    Hi Shiney,
Yes! I had a Peacock butterfly sitting on the drive last Friday. It spent most of the time opening and closing it's wings, absorbing the heat from the sun,it really was warm.
We now have quite a lot of sparrows in our area again. .Next door feeds them, and all the other birds as well.
They fly from a Forsythia bush in my garden back and forward to shrubs in next doors.
Every time the sparrows few either into or out off the Forsythia, the butterfly would take off after them.
At first I thought I was imagining it, but I kept watching, and it was doing it!

It was almost as comical as our resident Carrion Crow, chasing the wood pigeons, seagulls and the buzzards as they pass by!
