This may well be the first time in Government that one has received flowers so be prepared for some funny looks! Thinking about it, this may be the only time someone has said thanks to them either ;)

Flowers are well renowned for saying Thankyou so go with that.

Jack has said that this lady is often away from home, so I don't think the flowers are a good idea. She wouldn't have much time to appreciate them before they die. :)

Jack if this lady is often away from home does she stay in hotels.. If she does get her a pamper day voucher like one of these.. Loads of places do these offers now as they are very acceptable for the busy business woman.... I know you are old school, but this is not too personal...

        Yes that is my thought
I am sure she would be Delighted with flowers, but they would be put in a vase and when she returns from ski ing all withered and dead
Though really that is not my problem, it would be the intial impact that may make her feel her work is worthwhile going that little extra way, ruthless when needed but compasion if required

Chocs, well she is a little chubby, so although wow chocs, It would just be temptation and after she had yomped them feel guilty, so a negative effect

Wine,, well I know she used to buy a case a month off one of my ex collegues who was into wine merchandising, speciality stuff, so If I could find out from him,it would be the way to go, ONLY I would be possibly very worried about the price, her being one of the £100k plus type staff :-)
I do not think a bottle of Jacks best Vinegar would go down well :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

So it is down to flowers, which gives me even a bigger problem
I would have to order them and delivered to my home, so I could take them to work the next day
ONLY, I have never bought a bouquet of flowers for SWMBO even on our Ruby wedding anniversary
So to recieve a nice bouquet, only to find they were for me, could be a slight problem in the marriage department  when I took them to work

Maybe Ziggys is the best solution, slap her bum, give her a big smack on the lips and say WOW Thankyou, I mean she could not really sack me :)

Nope getting silly Jack, $eity this is getting more complicated, just to show some serious appreciation

Is there a way you could pre-order the flowers and pick them up on your way to work or maybe your lunch break:blue thumb:

I've given flowers before on plenty of occasions, and the gesture has never been taken the wrong way, and has always been appreciated. Tell the florist what the bouquet is for. That's quite important, as some flowers have certain meanings, and the florist will know what's what (no white lillies or red roses eh?).

I think chocs are too risky. For one thing you may not know what she likes. She may have allergies/intolerences, and if she is like some of the ladies I know, she may be unduly paranoid about her weight so chocolate invokes a completely illogical negative response. Wine is ok as long as it accompanies flowers, chocs and a card, but that pushes the price up considerably. The standard set of four (wine, chocs, flowers and card) is right if it is a group purchase, but if it was just from me, I'd go for just flowers.

Jack, you could have the flowers delivered to yourself at your reception area at work. They would then ring you to come and collect, hopefully! But you can always put your reception area in the picture before hand. :)

As she helped you go on your holiday, a unique item purchased from that destination would be nice. It would be a keep sake for her.

          Thanks Redstar
Only I am talking over a period of years, the cruise was last year

Others I would feel guilty if I had the flowers delivered elsewhere

So I am going to inform SWHMBO what I am going to do and the reason Why
(I know we do not do the flowery thing together, only my manager has helped us
have our time together and I feel it is the thing to do)

So I am going for flowers and a card

Question now is do I give them first thing in the morning at the start of shift or last thing as I leave ?

First thing, that way you don't have to worry about the damn things wilting or getting sat on.:) That'll be her problem.
