    does not get cooked .... it dries and you eat it like that ... goes blackish on the outside

    staple diet in South Africa .... in the rural areas, when you enter someone's home and they give you a beer, you also get a bowl of their finest biltong

    it's like here in the UK, go so some peoples homes, and they give you a cup of tea plus biscuits or cake or a scone with jam

    trust me .... if you eat meat, you will enjoy this .... sells for over £40/kg in London (then they use the cheap cuts of steak)

    use aberdeen angus ribeye steak that has been hung for 28 days, and you will have biltong that is better than bought in south africa

    if you google for 'south african shop biltong', you will find a south african shop near where you live and you can buy to try before making it yourself ... you can buy online

    I'm waiting for the cold, so that I can start making some, and already have several orders from neighbours and friends

    Oh well ... If thats the case, then I suppose dried South African Mopane worms are out of the question? ... an aquired taste .... it's like eating crunchy sawdust, but full of protein ...

    but then again, if you eat tripe or Haggis, you should have a 'seasoned' stomach and have no problem with these

      Mrs Scrungee & Miss Scrungette have just returned with these.

      That's sliced fried Puffball with scrambled egg (from own hens) breakfasts for a few days. 1.124, 0.889 & 0.508Kg and there's lots more coming on that are only tennis ball size [1] at the moment. Earlier than most years, but as everything's been early this year they thought it worth checking the place where we find them.

      [1] Always feel more confident picking stuff at full size, just in case small immature ones cause any confusion with ID'ing.

        I discovered wild garlic when my young daughter brought me a posy of wild flowers ! could not make out where the stink was coming from, We lived in Anglesey at the.
        time. My other daughter lives in East Sussex, Barcombe and it is in all the hedge rows. I have it in my garden now the leaves are good in salads, The other plant which grew in the hedge rows was horse radish in Cambridge all along the A10 on the verges . Don't suppose it does now with all the spraying.
