Another 3 have grown to picking size in the last 4 days. We've been eating them at least once every day, still have some left and got almost 2Kg this morning. Quorn Chicken & Mushroom Puffball Pie tonight with wild damsons for desert. Still about half a dozen coming on.

Mmmmm. I'm not confident about cooking most mushrooms, either wild or of the supermarket variety. The only exception is shiitake.

Got a load of some local damson/bullace/sole hybrid sat in jars of Aldi's finest vodka though.

              Mmmm, nice.

I have recently put about 4kg of damsons and sloe/bullace/plumy thing in Lidl's premium vodka in the coolest part of my house.

We have pickled damsons in the past, with sweetened vinegar, cloves, cinnamon, etc. then bottle it, and forget about it as long as possible! Last Christmas we opened a jar that I made over 10 years ago - it was fantastic with cold cuts of capon and gammon!

Mmmm, Sian, that sounds lovely. No way would it last 10 years with me around though.

Here are my jars thus far this year....cherries at the front, then damsons then a couple of weird sloe/bullace things. Still to get true sloes ripe around here. I'll need to buy another jar for that.
