Lolimac a recipe please! I always love hearing real peoples recipes and no some jargon on the internet which half the time doesn't add up to other sites, I prefer the tried and tested approach :)

I found a lot of elder berry trees on a hill near me, the branches are dropping with them all, but Ill have to wait until after my holidays in a weeks time to pick any!

@Jungle Jane I had never tasted them either until last night, I can imagine its what bleach tastes like, not that I hopefully will ever find out :snork:

@Greecko ...Remove Elderberries from the stalks (easy with a fork) place in a pan and only just cover them with water..Bring slowly to the boil, then simmer for 15/20 mins.Stir occaisionally.Strain the juice off then add 1lb of sugar to every 1 and 1/2 pints of juice.Heat gently till the sugar has dissolved..

        Jobs a good 'un:dbgrtmb:
        Keep in the fridge.:blue thumb:

me and my other half went walking around greno woods in Sheffield on sunday and picked nigh on 3kg of blackberries and about 1kg elderberries. the blackberries in Sheffield seem to have had a second wind, as we picked about a kg a month ago (only got that cos we only had a small bag to collect them in) and made some jam then noticed a week ago there were lots ripening so took carrier bags to collect yesterday :)
making blackberry and elderberry wine with this lot!

Who said de-stalking elderberries wasn't fun eh? Making an elderberry liqueur and maybe a few other things as I spent 2 hours de-stalking a couple of kilos and I threw most of the rest out as there are loads near me

Went for a walk today and timed it perfectly, got to my favourite hazel trees where no nuts had fallen 2 days ago to find the ground carpeted with them, carrier bag full of lovely fresh hazel nuts, thank you very much, all the more satisfying as I beat Mr Squirrel to them this year :dancy:
