Nice collection Bob the seventh picture is indeed a Belemnite,Belemnites were around from the late Carboniferous to the end of the Cretaceous, a period spanning over 200,000,000 years. They were cephalopods, related to the better-known ammonite.
The last picture of the fish is probably (Diplomystus)Eocene Era you need to be careful with some of these fossils especially from china they were doing some very clever fakes.

Kedi what a splendid collection of sharks teeth.

Kandy I think yours is indian fossil sandstone from the Proterozoic carbonaceous era lots of this stuff is imported for use in flooring.

Bob,Thank you for that link.Very interesting and I have put it in my favourites [IMG]

Pete,it is a steep learning curve for us all learning about what went on all those Millions of years ago

Walnut,I think you may be right because these places must source their slabs from somewhere. This slab of ours was actually being sold as slabs for patios etc,but this one isn't going to be used for that.

Kedi,I think I would have spent the whole of my time looking for those fossil teeth.Whenever we go back to White we always spend time at Hanover point down on the beach looking for fossils.

All these collections are fantastic and I Thankyou all for sharing them with us :D

Just a few more fossilized ferns, grass seed heads and on the last picture one that looks like a ginko leaf.

They are lovely, Walnut, you do have a wonderful collection.

I think it is a ginko leaf, too. That is a tree that I would love to have in our garden. Our neighbours have one and it does very well here.

Here is a short article with a couple of pics that I wrote for an online magazine.

We were St Petes Beach south of Clearwater 4 years ago (wasn't clear at all). Never thought of looking for sharks teeth, the only thing we found was rain, it followed us from New York.
Just brought a few pink shells back. [IMG]

Sorry to hear that, strongy. You usually think of good weather when Florida is mentioned.

I have lots of shells too, perhaps I'll post some of them. Perhaps you'll start a shell thread and then I can just latch on?
