The latest FREE to ALL energy saving is under floor insulation and up to 22 super efficient led bulbs (low energy instant light)

They go beneath the ground floor and net rockwool 12" deep to the Joists, they will only replace 22 lamps free but that saves you paying £250 for them alone

They are doing mine next week

Our house is already sufficiently warm, even with the gas fire as the only source of heat in the house, and its only ever on for a few hours at most, and never on full whack.

Under floor insulation is a bit tricky if, like my house and those of many of my friends and families, the floor is concrete.

I'd be happy with the 22 free lamps though:)

My floor is half and half the hall and kitchen and dining room are concrete
The sitting room is wooden joists
All the energy companies are doing it and you do not have to change suppliers

That's because you've been paying for it in the green taxes added to your energy bills for that specific purpose.......so you ain't getting it for free as you've already paid for it and will do in the future, Jack:dunno::snork:

I know I have paid for it, but at least getting something back is better than a kick up the bum

Thanks very much for the info and the offer.

You're correct, mine are MR16's :blue thumb:. As I have 36 of them I don't think I'll bother spending £360 on new bulbs. The originals were put in 7 years ago and I've only replaced eight of them. The replacements only cost me £2.25 for five. :hate-shocked: I need a better incentive than saving some power to make me want to change them.

You also got the outside lights correct :love30:. The headroom in them doesn't allow for longlife bulbs and the current replacements on cost about 40p. I can't remember when I last changed one of those bulbs.

I have a stock of replacement bulbs for all my lights.

Our electricity supplier gave us a load of bulbs free (no choice in what we got) but they don't fit in most of my fittings.

I'm now getting this problem. It has only happened since I had my computer serviced!

Aye, you would take a hell of a long time to recoup the outlay with that number of bulbs! From what I hear, the MR16 bulbs are a lot more hit and miss than the GU10 - no idea why because the MR16 should in theory be simpler (power transformer is external to the bulb).

Yes, I don't have any trouble with the MR16's and they seem to last for ages. The small amount of heat from the bulbs and transformers are vented into the loft - I have holes drilled in the flooring above them (we live in a bungalow).
