This course has recently completed and all who took part have shown a massive improvement in their photography.

They no longer "point....and shoot" but they think, judge, check settings, compose then choose how they wish to record the moment. They now have full control of the camera (if that is what they wish), rather than it controlling them and thereby make the photograph using their own creativity.

All who finished the course have shown the above but will improve further over time. But remember, you completed the course over the worst part of the year...photographically speaking.

I hope it was fun for all as it was for me and I'm glad I could dispose of some myths and open some eyes.

Later in the year I may well run a second course (free again) for those who wish to try it.

      Steve...:)

I would like to thank Steve for opening my eyes to the potential I have to take more meaningful pictures. He enabled me to understand more about composition, use of light and most importantly, to ENJOY my camera more .
I would heartily commend this course to anyone wishing to take the pictures that they and their camera deserve to be measured by,

A BIG THANK you Steve for letting me take part in the first course. It has been a great learning experience, made all the more enjoyable by being with a lovely bunch of fellow learners.

I've just stumbled upon this thread and would like to congratulate Steve on his generosity and commitment on a subject that is full of trepidation.

I now have a DSLR, nothing but trouble if using "Auto" settings, so I use it now (finally) in manual mode, I set the ISO, Aperture and have reverted to manual focus. Having taught myself many years back using a manual "Pentax MX", progressing onto a "Canon 650", I found going "auto" made me lazy, so now I'm having to re-teach myself all the basics and I'm loving it!

I still have the urge to get out the old Canon, stick a roll of film in it and do what I used to love......... experiment!

Nothing wrong with having "a foot in each camp", Vince!! You can still get film easily and get it processed, it's just more expensive than digital that's all. A Pentax MX????....a nice camera!!:snork:

I think I wore the MX out Armandii but I loved it. Just a pity after my divorce I didn't salvage all my darkroom equipment, I would love to get the old canon 650 back into action and process my own film like I used too, oh happy days!

Nothing like getting your moneys worth, Vince:snork: I've still got a old Canon AV1 SLR in mint condition in a drawer...........one of these days I'll have it serviced and possibly scratch that itch to start film again. Having said that I do like my Pentax K5 just as much.:snork:
