I'm quite old for my profession, but you're right I've got a while to go before I could pass as old. Just my last company was staffed by children. Children in terms of age, children in terms of attitude, and children in terms of ability. Ok, nit quite children, but with the oldest after me being 10 years younger than me, and he in turn is 5 years older than the next oldest, it seemed that way.

Now the trouble is, kids always think they're right. That's fine while its a game, but when its a serious living, it gets frustrating at times when you actually know what you're doing because you've lived it, and if you speak up to say "hang on, if you do that, this will happen", you just kind of get dismissed until it happens, and then everyone runs around like headless chickens and starts talking about 'lessons learned'. Well no, not 'lessons learned', because I told you months ago and you ignored me and all that.

But, that's all in the past now. I wish them well. I just hope they grow up a bit before they run the company into the ground. Mind, seeing as only one lad has actually left home, it probably wont hurt them too much if they do bust it.

        Congratts about the job.

I can sympathise over being undervalued and poorly treated. I had a job back in '07 working in a small electronics warehouse complete with (just like yourself) rusty bits of discarded trash on the way into work. I was treated like a doormat and was belittled by the boss on a daily basis. As it was such a small run business there wasn't anyone else to turn to to complain about my treatment as the person doing the harassment was the owner and there was only about a dozen of us. It got so bad that I dreaded going to work for fear of what this idiot would pick on next. He would even follow me to the toilet and stand outside the door and time me and on my lunch break he'd follow me to listen over my phone conversations to my wife. The place was in the middle of nowhere so there was nowhere to go in my breaks to get away.

We broke up for Christmas holidays and I never went back. Handing my notice in and telling the guy what I thought of him was a huge weight off my shoulders. I still get nightmares about him years later.

                Oh well done dude, enjoy.

I always enjoyed the 'lessons learned' meetings myself. It gave me the chance to get out reams of paper with my concerns and predicted results clearly stated on and the responses from various higher echelons... I used to work with someone who flatly said to anyone, 'If I ain't got a job number or signed written bleedin' instruction, I ain't doin' it'. He sounded like an total git sometimes but got himself and many others out of the brown stuff many times.
