Don't worry about the spawn freezing Honey Bee it actually has built in anti freeze properties and will stand some freezing,it is only killed off if it freezes solid.

Two more clumps today.... thought they'd have better things to do than hanky-panky in sub-zero temperatures - and BOY was it cold last niight!!! And they are still hiding - no frogs to be seen at all!!!

There only about 3/4 pairs in our 'pond' and they are always late to spawn, there is plenty of time.

The boys got a lesson in "the birds and bees" today when we went up the garden to check the spawn - we now have 4 clumps!! YAY!! As soon as the frogs were finished, they went straight back into hiding!! We have moved all the spawn into a pond basket safely out the way of the fish. It's submerged and the water has a clear run through, so it won't get stale, but the fish can't get in. We were pottering in the garden yesterday, when we saw what looked to be an Albino frog swim along the bottom of the shelf - then hide. It was so pale it stood out against the murky bottom. I didn't have time to run inside and grab the camera. The boys got so excitted - they thought it was a mega-super rare one!! :s00k: :s00k:

Our frogs are still hiding (except for the brief sightings!!) I put all the spawn safely in an empty basket, and we are sure there has been 2 more clumps laid on top, as the basket is overflowing - so I'm going to have to put some in a 2nd basket!!!!
Still haven't found any locals with toadspawn in their pond I can liberate..........
