wildflower, don't know but I think frogs are not that fussy about the depth/consistency of mud/water and a bog garden would still be home to them for most of the time? ;)

Wildflower, I am amazed at your fear of frogs and toads. With your love of gardens, you know they are only beneficial for the plants, please try to tolerate them!
As you never need to touch them , what is it that you don't like?

liz..dont laugh its their back legs i dislike and their ugly faces..everytime i walk past my pond they seem to watch me..I used to like them when i was little and would collect them then my adopted mother who was scared of them ...started to scare me also..I am alot better than i was when i moved in here their was no pond but loads of frogs allready and i have just got used to them !!but still not keen especially when they land on your feet when you are gardening..ugh..and also they keep living in my greenhouse for some reason its usually got loads in their ..but not at the moment as i have disinfectanted it out and its allmost empty..I know they are good for the plants i have hundreds of empty snail shells all over the garden so they are doing their job..and for the amount of plants i have ..not much is being eaten by slugs and snails..I wouldnt mind if their was just one or two so much but honestly we are over run..every one is scared of something .. :D

Yes, I very much dislike maggots and they give me the creeps, I would hate to have to touch one. I am trying to picture thinking like that about frogs so I'm more sympathetic! At least you don't kill them. [IMG]
    I like your new signature!

Wildflower, I think the frogs, toads, lizards, spiders etc.. should be more afraid of us than we should be of them [IMG] I do not mock your fear, I am terrified of bats !! no real reason I just do not like them ..... UGH !! I don't mind moths, spiders (and we have huge ones with knees  ) don't worry me, mice do make me jump but once I know they are there I'm quite happy; the gekkos bask on our walls; the large lizard did startle me at first, but that was because I didn't expect him to be where he was ! we also have quite a lot of snakes in the vineyards, some of which, the adders, we have to be careful of; we also have some HUGE bee type insects that do no harm at all to anyone they just look terrifying .....and then we have lots of those beautiful Humming Bird Hawk Moths......they are extremely busy in the evenings at the moment whilst the cicadas continue to serenade us! M-L

ML I loved the green lizard too, kept them in my youth as well as wall lizards, grass snakes and tree frogs in the bad old days when Italy virtually cleared it own countryside of reptiles and amphibians for the pet trade. When I found out what was happening I ceased buying any imported animals and only kept captive bred ones. There were many attempts to introduce the wall and green lizards to southern Britain but the green lizards have never succeeded beyond the Channel Islands, a few wall lizards can be found on the cliffs in the Bournemouth area but even the common lizard is not common. The lack of reptiles and amphibians here is I think one of this countries losses. Wildflwer probably thinks I am mad. :D
