Pleased to see by the great pics that I am not the only one with a plastic lined pond. In fact my pond is a kids blown up paddling pool, with black builders plastic liner. I've had it for at least 6 years, I have it situated in the top of our wild meadow and it is well hidden with natural growth, both inside and out. The frogs have come every year and when I first placed it there 2 ducks were on it within an hour.
Hope to dig a bigger one next year when I retire.
But for sentimental reasons will hang on to this one for as long as it lasts

Been trying to think of an appropriate title for Jarbax's excellent frog film...

    How About...

    THE BOGFATHER
    ON GOLDEN POND
    JOHN CARPENTER'S "THE FROG"
    "SPAWN"
    WHO FRAMED ROGER RIBBIT?
    CROAK AND DAGGER
    THE GREEN SLIME

    so sorry everyone...

Really fantastic photos, JarBax and son, those close-ups are amazing! Very well done.

I am trying to imagine how it will be when all those tadpoles hatch! You will have to feed them until they turn into froglets and can get out and about under their own steam to forage for food.

Derwent, your pond could be out of a fairey tale - well-hidden and I could almost imagine an elf peeking out from the clump of grass. Lovely!

Note to Strongy and everyone else unsure about the issue of collecting frogspawn from a wild source....

This is the official reply I received today from a very helpful lady at the Dartmoor National Park Authority...

Thank you for your enquiry. I suggest you visit the Froglife website (address below) for most up-to-date advice on frog rearing. In the past, pond owners were advised to collect spawn from other existing garden ponds but not to interfere with wild ponds. Recent advice seems to be not to introduce any frogspawn but to wait for 1-2 years until your pond has been colonised naturally. This is in order to prevent the spread of alien invasive plants and diseases. Only if your pond has not been colonised naturally and you have done all you can to make the habitat suitable, you may wish to find another friendly pond owner to get some frog spawn. It is not illegal to collect common frog spawn.

So basically the advice is everything you lot had already suggested so pats on the back to you all! [IMG] [IMG]

An update on the fish tank in the dining room - we now have 3 froglets and 11 tadpoles sprouting legs like they are going out of fashion!!! They obviously thrive on the goldfish food, but I think they are growing too quickly!!!! We have put some rocks in the tank and will be rducing the water, but its far too cold outside for them still, so anyone know about frog-keeping????
