Dee it was fun seeing your progress so far I'm sure you have a better time scale than us.

Bob laid a block paving drive for us when we first moved in (3 years ago nearly) and due to 'other' projects he didn't quite finish it off but he tells me that he intends to do so this year although one can only hope I'm not too old and grey before the end arrives.:old::D

We had to have the pavement dropped which costed us around £400, £350 for the wrought iron gates and a couple of grand on the hardcore, sand and blocks for the driveway.

I have messed about with our front garden so many times it looks a shocking mess and do intend on doing something different with it this year, hopefully I will be able to find a theme as they seems to work best for me and are quite easy for me (at least) to follow.

Keep the pictures coming girl and good luck I'm looking forward to the end result.Hel.xxx.

The lads were there ready with the cement..

And were ready to go :yho: Bricklayers starting Tomorrow, if its not snowing

And ive been on the www for wrought iron gates/fencing!!! im even more confused than before i started, i dont want them too ornate or too plain, heres a pic of my neighbours, there nice but too fancy for me, sort of a toned down version of his, no "arrows" sticking out the top or squiggly bits for me, Also were running out of money :o So any Indecent Proposals will be Considered :D

Only just found this thread .

    It's looking really great :gnthb:

A long term word of warning about that tree stump. You said that you will build a raised bed over it - which is a good idea :thmb:. Eventually the stump will rot - many years. When it does rot you will want to be careful about treading on the bed where it was. A gardener near us was working in a garden he had been doing for about six years. He walked on a flower bed where there was what turned out to be an old stump underneath. It had rotted and suddenly gave way. He fell in the hole and broke a leg. Afterwards, he said that when he was studying at college (many years ago) they had been warned about this sort of thing. :(

Hi Shiney, Thanks for the advice, The tree surgeon said it will rot Slowly, About 20 years, So by then i will probably of forgot, Stand on it and break my Leg :D
