I rushed out in the evening and wrapped the dhalias I'd planted out on the weekend in insulating foam sheets. Uncovered them thus morning and they are fine. Keeping the same sheet on my carrot beetroot shallot and strawberry patch. Mostly to keep the cats away. But forgot to protect my lettuce seedlings.

I've fleeced my spuds, gunnera, and some other bits that have tender new growth for the last two nights. My bananas are still in my greenhouse, I've held off planting them out yet :)

We had ice on the car yesterday morning, temp dropped to 0, this morning we got away with it, down to 2 and no ice on car :)

The forecast for the next few days is slowly warming up by day but still dropping to 2-3 degrees at night

Have yet to check the allotment today, but everything in our garden and the most tender stuff has survived thus far! The mint wilted a bit as the cold dried it out, but it's recuperated after a good soak. Phew! Praying the allotment has fared ok...

Just checked our weather forecast, overnight temps are expected to be 4+ over the next couple of nights and then warming up into next week so looks like we're in the clear. Phew!

The frost got two of my potato plants in pots on Sunday night - I didn't fleece them (I know - silly me) those right next to the south facing wall were OK (back ones) but I had two pots in the open garden about 10ft away and they got it! - Do yo think they will come back or should I cut my losses and replant - they are first earlies so still time for a crop.
