Interesting reading Peter, I think we all remember those two consecutive winters of 2009/10 and 2010/11 when the temperatures really went down, we recorded -15.6 at one point !!!! :thud:, lets hope we don't see anything quite that cold this winter, don't mind nice crisp frosty mornings, but preferably not those that turn everything in to something resembling permafrost :snork:

        Good morning JWK,
yes , we've had frost but not hard, deep frost down to the soil. I am quite sheltered on the NE side. The begonias have succumbed and my neighbour's hydrangea is looking a bit plasticky now,
        Jenny

Seems sooooo long since we had a frost but it was -2 this morning and didn't get above freezing until about 9am this morning, the car was frozen solid, my pond and bird baths were frozen and everything was white over, a lovely sunny winter morning :), frustratingly rare this winter :(

I'm not complaining about no frost, but the rain is getting a bit much.

It was frosty last night and is frosty again tonight. But my lowest temperature recorded so far has only been -4C on 20 January. That is still less than the -7C last year, which was the mildest I have recorded since I started in 2006.

We had a heavy frost yesterday morning but it was a clear sky overnight after a lovely sunny day.
