    Hi Harry, thanks.

I would pinch at the two shoots above the kink in the stem (leaving the shoots on of course). As this is a hardy then this would leave a couple of inches of seem to be buried as frost protection.

The part of the plant you remove you can use as cuttings, you should get 2 or 3.

If you then pinch out the growing tips of the remaining shoots in about 10/14 days time you should have a nice flowering plant with around 10/12 branches in about August.

It's important to remember that a hardy fuchsia flowers and grows best from September to November, when they get the mists and morning dews like they do in their natural habitat.

HOW TO PLANT A HARDY FUCHSIA

      View attachment 46117

Make a saucer shaped dip in the ground around 3 inches deep then place the plant in the center so the top of the football is level with the bottom of the dip. Gradually over the summer the dip will refill naturally leaving the plant at the correct depth in time for the winter.View attachment 46117

Thanks to Mowgley introducing me to the otherfellow.co.uk I am awaiting delivery of:
            Abbé Farges
            Azure Sky
            Ben Jammin
            Charming
            Champagne Celebration
            Mrs Lovell Swisher
            Pam Plack
            Santa Cruz

I also have 2 each of Seventh Heaven, Voodo and Royal Mosaic in window boxes in the greenhouse waiting to be planted up with begonias and impatiens. I haven't pinched them out though as I didn't know you had to with trailing fuschias. I expect it's too late to do it now but they seem to be flourishing (apart from the one which had a bit of an accident with a dog) so I'll just let them get on with it

My deltas sarah were the best survivors over winter, snowcap and dollar princess seem dead. I'm taking lots of cuttings this time.

I have ten trailing fuchsias that I got from T&M, and they have responded well to my pampering - would there be any point in whipping a cutting off each to double my luck?

I always do that everytime I buy one. The way I look at it if you pay £2 for something and you get a another plant off it then they've only cost a pound each. I do it with allsorts of plants.

I think I did pretty well on these - ten fuchsias and half a dozen petunias for postage only, then added 36 petunias for three quid, so all in all a dose of plants for less than a tenner. If I can double the fuchsias, then all the better

I was tempted by that deal, after vowing never to use T&M again, serves me right 3 died.

In fairness @pamsdish, I have had to really pamper mine (varying shade, watering and controlling temperature very carefully) to get them to survive.

The two hydrangeas I bought from them are utter rubbish for the thick end of twenty quid - two sticks in 9 cm pots that I have no choice but to pot grow for a year at least before they get planted out

Fuchsia Procumbens just starting to flower. Still in his pot, waiting to be planted out in-between aubrieta.
