Is it possible to take cutting from non-flowering fuschia shoot now please, or best to wait till autumn?

I would say go for it - ideal time to start a cutting off before it gets too warm, and allow plenty of time for it to get established

Oooh, that's exciting. I've never taken fuschia cuttings before. The bloke the big plant belongs to you is happy for me to go round snipping so I can do quite a few to allow for any unco-operative ones. Thank you Fat Controller.

Yes @Anthony Rogers just the recommended final size pot and best growing medium.
Was going to plant them in the ground but the position is too open and sunny

I just use a multi-purpose compost. They like to have a good root run, so I'm planning to finish mine off in an 8 or 9" pot.
Bear in mind that they are naturally lianas climbers so they may need a cane or something similar also they can grow upto 6' in their first season and 15' thereafter.

The best way to grow them is as greenhouse/conservatory or indoor plants.

I keep mine in my unheated bedroom where they get evening sun.

Have you any Triphillas such as Thalia, Mary or Firecracker as they appreciate being in sun.

My usual plant shop hasn't had any triphylla koralle or Thalia in this year
              Really like 'firecracker' you mentioned:)
Here's my thalia from last year

I thought that growing boliviana in GH was a no go due to high temps.

The main thing in a greenhouse is to try and keep the temperature below 30 deg and also planting in clay pots as the evaporation of water through the pot walls helps keep the roots cool.

Certain species do well because they come from central America ( Mexico down to Columbia/Peru/northern Bolivia) and the Caribbean Islands.

Others that do well in the heat of a greenhouse are some of the large American doubles ( Dancing Flame, Happy Wedding Day, Royal Velvet etc), as these were first grown/ introduced in the heat and sun of California.

My other half had a Thalia last year which was left outdoors all winter. We were stunned today to see that it is coming back from the roots!
