Good luck with the Fuschia Anthony. I think I'd keep it to myself and grow on some cuttings, why let someone else pinch the glory. :)

Hi Sheal, I don't often disagree with you but I think the glory would be mine. I'd feel so proud about having my name listed as an introducer in the Fuchsia catalogues/books. Plus, seeing my mums name on it as well :)

What more of an original gift could I give her, especially as it's her 80th birthday next week. Talk about good timing :)

But, hey ho, we've got to see what happens first.....

Sorry Anthony, perhaps I didn't put that as well as I should. What I meant was, to grow on cuttings/plants yourself until you had proof they were genuine, then introduce them for registration. :)

I've just found this, it may be of help to you. :)

          Hi Sheal,
Yeah, sorry about that a bit of crossed wires I think.

I will do some myself I'm not giving my plant away to anyone, I think that's what you meant :)

The growing on is part of the testing process and has to be a minimum of 3 years.

It's best to involve a specialist nursery from the beginning as they have the facilities to grow on better than an amateur like me. And, they can actually check through " Helen Fahey " s parentage, for all I know at the moment my " sport " may actually be just a reversion back to a grandparent, or similar ( I don't think that's the case here though as It's totally different ).

Also, they actually register the plant ( with my name of course ) and introduce the plant and therefore handle all the distribution and sales etc.

I know of two nurseries ( Other fellow Fuchsias and Claylane Fuchsias ) who actually make new introductions each year and I know the owner of one of them.

Thanks for the link to the BFS but they are only really there as a special society ( a sort of Gardeners Corner for Fuchsias only ) which you have to pay for the privilege of being a member of.

All Fuchsias now have to be registered with The American Fuchsia Society, as they are the worldwide controllers of the Fuchsia growing world ( typical Americans, have to be in charge of everything Lol).

I agree Sheal, i love blue aswell, i'd love a Meconopsis Betonificolia ( i think that's the right name, the Blue Tibetan Poppy ), it's such a beautiful colour and i reckon the truest blue of any flower. I used to have them when we had our larger family garden when I was younger.

I'm waiting for my Fuchsias Delta's Sarah and Moody Blues to open, you should like those then.

Lillian Annetts is a common one in nurseries but if you have difficulty finding it Other Fellow Fuchsias have it in their catalogue.
When do you want it for? If you want I can do you some cuttings if you have somewhere to overwinter them.

Your inherited one...... Is it possible to have a pic of the plant and a pic of a flower next to something ( say a 50p coin ), and, roughly how tall does it grow ?

Do you know the others, I 'd say No 2 is Marinka, No 3 Royal Mosaic, No 5 Heidi Ann. No 6 I would need more info on... Bush or trailing and size.

Thank you for that Anthony I will take a look at Other Fellow Fuchsias, my friend Lillian is our neighbour in Spain, would fuchsias grow in Spain (Atlantic side) I wonder?

I will take a photo tomorrow of the inherited one and put a coin alongside it for size and it would be great if you could identify it.

Unfortunately I'm not as good as you I didn't take note when I planted them other than Voodoo as I just love this one and have a couple that I've managed to keep over the last two years. I'm sure that you are right with your names, the last one is a bush.
