    Hi Sheal,

    Hi Pamsdish,

    RE.... Fuchsia Microphylla,

Unless my eyes are playing up, I would say that you have different plants as the flowers on Pamsdishs plant look a lot smaller than the ones on Sheals.

I'll investigate a little more as there's a book in the library that gives actual measurements.
Unfortunately I can't get into town until Monday.

I'll take down the measurements and post them and then you can match them to your plants.

I hope this helps, sorry I can't be any quicker but it was my mums birthday on Thursday ( she was 80 ) and I've stayed with her for a couple of days ( that's why I haven't been able to answer quicker ) and I took her to Worcester today.

For arguments sake @Anthony Rogers, my coin was held along side the flower but I think Pamsdish's is held in front of the lens which is why it's blurred and would account for the appearance in size difference. They could well be the same size. :)

Do these not flower regularly? just asking as I brought a Tom West about 3 years
ago and its never flowered during that time (mine looks exactly like
yours in the picture)...........I done some research this year and it looks
like you have to prune them in the early spring, but mine still
has not flowered :( but I think I might have been a bit late with the pruning
this year as it still did not flower.

            Hi Intel,

Tom West is one of the least flowering Fuchsias there is. It may only have 15/20 flowers all season.
It really is nothing to shout about, it's a single red/purple... In fact a lot of growers keep pinching out the growing tips all season purposely to keep it from flowering and to keep the foliage nice and colourful.

If you like this type of flower, then one of the F. Magellanica plants may suit you better, good ones are... Riccartonii , Gracilis ( both between 4/8' but can if left to their own devices with little pruning reach up to 9 or 10', I've even seen a Riccartonii 13' high ! ! ! ) or David (around 3').

Smaller ones are Tom Thumb or Pumila ( both only 12/18" high ).

If you wanted one with coloured leaves then " Genii " ( 3' ) has lovely golden foliage, especially in full sun.

All of these are fully hardy in the UK.
