Yes, it is the "tree Fuchsia". This was sent to me as a cutting about a year ago and stands about 20cm tall. It has been outdoors all winter.

I'm definitely going to have to get one of these then. It's one I'd been dithering about but you've convinced me now. I knew it was hardy, supposed to be good to about -10.

          That's a really good site.Thanks
I'm going to have to check through my catalogues for it as the one I usually use don't sell it.

A fuchsia I've never tried before......
Triphylla Firecracker. A photo just doesn't do it justice, the leaves really are a mixture of cream, pink and a pale sage/grey green. It's a natural sport of Thalia with the same orange/red flowers. WP_20150402_010.jpg

I have around 15 fuschias (2 years mature) in the garage which are now starting to grow. Too early to put them outside but will not be long before they are going to need lots more light.
Wondering if like the post I put in container gardening about lilies if I can put the fuschias into a tomato greenhouse (blowaway) that I lay on its side and then zip the door up at night and even cover with fleece should it look like jack frost is going to visit?

Ideally I would think end of April to do this but they may be gagging for sun (joke) and at least more light so sooner the better really?? Any views please.

I don't see why they shouldn't survive Trogre. If possible put the greenhouse against or close to a house wall as that will give a little heat too. :)

Where abouts are you from Trogre? I reckon you should be ok,so long as they're covered at night. You should cut out as much old wood as possible and prune all new growth to around 2 or 3 pairs of leaves.

If you look carefully you can just make out the blue pollen.

I've been waiting for you to put a pic of it open. I love it, it should be stunning next year when it's bigger. Where did you get it from? I've had a look through my catalogues and I can't find it.

My "grown-up" fuchsias stayed outside for all the winter in pots at the loggia (south direction). Repotted them all today - what a super day for gardening :). I've got Swingtime, Claudia, Holly's Beauty, Blaze Away, This England, one similar to Happy Wedding Day, one wild, Blacky (this stayed inside for the winter time).

Blackie is hardy here in Oxfordshire so it will be safe in Hampshire.

It's because I lost that plant last summer, could root cuttings only, didn't risk to keep them outside.

Sorry late getting back to you but I live in Wiltshire. I think I will erect my tomato greenhouse and harden fuchsias off during the day before leaving them in greenhouse. By that time it will be coming up to 3rd week in April so just a matter of keeping eye open for a cold night.
Trouble is these odd frosty nights sometimes catch you out as there is no forecast predicting them. Still if a clear night best to be safe then sorry.
                        Thank your your input.
