Now the bad part. The cuttings I've been growing on were coming on great but now have these white flecks over them. I'm presuming it is something to worry about. IMG_0535.JPG

    Hi Patrick,

First of all your Fuchsias are looking great, another 3/4 weeks and they should be fantastic :)

The little white flecks look like Whitefly. It's a pesky little thing but doesn't do serious damage.

The easiest way to get rid of it is to spray them all over with a washing up liquid solution. You need to do it every third day for about three or four times as this will kill off any eggs/babies as well.

Thanks so much Anthony, the kids (who have done a lot of the cuttings) and I were getting worried we would have to ditch them.

I'll start the spraying regime in the morning!

This Fuchsia was labelled 'Heidi Anne' when I bought it but I am not sure if it is really that one. Could someone help with identification please (I know it's difficult to ID them)

              Hi Michael,

              Definitely not a " Heidi Ann " .......

              Sepals.... Short, broad, reflexed crimson.

Corolla...very full fluffy lilac with cerise veins.

              " General Monk " .....

              Sepals... Shiny cerise, fully reflexed.

Corolla...fully double dark bluish purple maturing to reddish purple with pink veins.

I don't know whether it's the photo but yours looks like a single to me.

Thanks Anthony. It's a more a semi double than single.
It isn't General Monk either although I once thought it might be. Anyway it doesn't really matter. I'll have to get Heidi Ann next year.

With respect to Anthony, I'm not so sure it's whitefly. Looks a bit to me like the remains of greenfly. I notice one or two curling leaves, so it would be worth lifting up those leaves to see what, if anything, is on the underside.

I will do Freddy, is the treatment, if it's greenfly, different?

There are different chemicals on the market, but I've found that soapy water works pretty well with blackfly, so should be good for greenfly I reckon. If you do find greenfly on the underside, spray them and see how it goes, but don't let it get out of hand, as they can ruin a plant.

Is there a non cemical alternative to treating fuchsia rust? I have one type of fuchsia in particular that gets it bad every year. Are some fuchsia varieties more resistant to it?

                          Another wrongly named ?
I bought this Fuchsia with the name Lincoln Castle, but after seeing other photos of the same variety, I don't think it is what the label sais ...
                          Any help please.

It`s so annoying when wrongly named, then they wonder why people don`t buy from them again.:wallbanging:

                              Hi Michael,

                              Check out " Leonora ".

Definitely not " Lincoln Castle ", that's a white sepals / violet corolla type.
