Fuchsias - 2016

Just you wait till you get the photo's in a few months time

 

I noticed today , that my one lonely fuchsia that I bought from a flower stall last year because I liked it, has come through the winter and is sending out shoots . It's a really pretty pink and white. Shows what a difference an enclosed postage stamp garden can grow, as opposed to a frost pocket! My chilli plants are alive too.

 

My Hawkshead has leaf buds, so it must have survived the winter battering.

 

Is it still to early to cut the Deltas etc back ?

I would still leave them a little longer, I know it's so tempting to just " tidy them up a bit " but I still feel it's a little early.

I think it's because we've had such a mild Winter ( well we have up here, only 2 proper frosts and they were the beginning of January, and no snow for coming up to 6 years now ! ), and we're all getting a little impatient but you never know what's around the corner.

 

PS... Woo, that top photo is excellent. It shows people perfectly what to look for

The Fuchsia Procumbens seeds I put in a month ago have come up, well 6 have. First time I've ever grown any Fuchsia from seed.

 

A pat on the back Anthony! It's very satisfying when they show themselves, particularly when we think it's not going to happen.

 

Yeah, I had my doubts because from everything I'd heard you're supposed to sow them fresh and these are my own saved seed from last Summer /Autumn.

 

Do most fuschia's come true from seed?
