Thanks Howard , seems like growing to show standard is a labour of love ! I have never grown many fuchias but this thread has opened my eyes - and quite a few good tips on varieties ! :dbgrtmb:

Yes maybe better to start a fresh from Spring if you are unable to overwinter .

But still fun trying and soon GC will have their wee plug fuchsias or you can sent to nurseries for named species .

And there will be many of us have fuchsia cuttings spare I am sure.

I have F.procumbens germinating nicely at the moment. They benefit from a spell in the fridge before moving to somewhere not too warm but light.

I'm adding a photo that I took earlier of some of the flower buds on my F.perscandens - it's interesting (to me anyway) because it shows how the flowers on this emerge from the older woody stems, and not the more usual fresh growth.

Glad there's a fuchsia thread :blue thumb:

I've just bought several and have never grown them before so looking forward to it.

I have to admit I find some of the colours a bit garish, so have gone for the more muted tones.

          So far I've got :

          Annabel
          Miss California
          Harry Gray
          Pink Galore
          Alf Thornley
          Diamond Celebration
          Walz Jubelteen
