I often use the search facility on here using just a keyword and found it very useful :)

Hi, Charlie, I understand what you mean:thumbsup: But, if you'll forgive me for clarifying that, when Admin take part in a Thread in "normal" circumstances we post as Members and not as Admin. I know that sounds like Nit Picking but I'm just trying to point out that in the context of what you mean we're "active" as Members and subject to be disagreed with or having the Mickey taken out of us by other members ['which happens quite often:hate-shocked::cry3::heehee:]

Oh, you've done it now. I'm going to have to recite my all time favourite most profound philosophical proverb I've ever had the honour of learning. You reminded me of it.

"Do not walk ahead of me, for I will not follow.
Do not walk behind me, for I will not lead.
Do not walk beside me, for the path is narrow.
      In fact.....

Why don't you just shoe off and leave me alone"

But on the subject of blogs though, with all due respect to those that write them, and those that read them, I find them to be among the most boring things on the internet. In fact even thinking about a blog is making my eyelids heavy and my mind wander, to the extent that I'm finding it difficult to even write my opinion on the subject:)

Blogging is a spectator sport for people that have no spectators. My perception of the average blogger (possibly unfair) is someone he really wishes he/she knew some real people to share his/her experience with. I know a few proper hardcore old time gardeners, and they simply don't have time or inclination to write down what they did. Of course that's different to the boys and girls here on GC, who write down what they did, because on here it is discussion, full duplex, you say "this is what I did" and people pile on with their feedback and questions and opinions and a massive online chinwag happens. Contrast that to a blog where someone says "this is what I did" and then at best, there'll be a few disparate 'comments' at the bottom. The discussion will be brief, very regimented, and stay exactly on topic. The blogger gets a pat on the back or a slating (or neither), but he/she doesn't really get anything new because the fluid and open discussion is simply not there.

I suggest that you read the John Grimshaw blog that I posted the link for. He's a serious gardener and professional horticulturist, as well as a respected gardening author. Also a proper gent who has helped me on the odd occasion.
The other two I look at because they are ordinary gardeners in far off places who grow plants that interest me.

That's good, but it doesn't change my perception. Perhaps my perception is as illogical as my perception of spiders. I'm not suggesting that people that write blogs are in some way unworthy, I just think that bloggers are unworthy. To the uninitiated, that's the same thing, but when you consider that each of us has many facets that we show and hide, sometimes by choice, selectively, sometimes not, a good and interesting person can also have a dull and/or egotistical side that writes blogs as a means of seeking validation for what they've done, and/or expressing a superiority over those that have not done what they have done. That doesn't make that person any less than any other person. We all have our strengths and our quirks.

Although I don't normally read blogs I occasionally read Kristen's blog because it has things of interest to me.

 :hate-shocked: an interesting subject. :blue thumb: Why don't you do a blog of it? :heehee:

I don't like to handle spiders as I'm worried that I might hurt them (don't like hurting things) but I do like spiders. I even talk to them! :) Whereas Mrs Shiney is happy to handle them whether they are tiny or large.

I was quite clear in my intent. Whatever you take from 'between the words' is a matter of your perception.
