That's a lovely idea, thanks @shiney, but it's not what I'm looking for. We have lights at the house end but we only use one of those. The problem is with the drive at the top end to halfway down when we turn in. It's pitch black at night and even with the car lights we can't see where the edges of the lawns are. It's those I want to pick out without illuminating the whole garden. :)

@Sheal you could try what are known as ice lights. These are easy to install, and look like this...

The only problem is, they may not be available in 230 volt, only solar as seen here.

Thanks @Sandy Ground, I like those, particularly the blue. I've checked them out on the web and they only seem to be available here as solar as you've suggested. Unfortunately they've had terrible reviews, failing very quickly and some within hours of use.

They're along the lines of what I'm looking for though. :)

The simple solution might be reflective tape on small stakes.:dunno::snorky:

              Thank you all. :)

I'm looking for something a little more rustic like this below that will blend into the background. The one below is for candles so that's not viable. I don't want anything bright and :doh:I'm now wondering if I could produce something similar myself with a little thought. :)

I am compleatly against light polluion we are robing kids of a wonderfull sight which cost nothing,Ihave two solar lights stay on while there is movement I in front of them. I live in a flat with a mains safty light by the front door it goes out as the girl upstairs goes past so I put a solar light by her door, she has ligh t all the way now, the other is on my shed at the allotment their is now lights at all there so anyone aproching my shed must panic take them a longe time and a lot of noise to brake in anyway it is one inch boards on a 3x3 frame and safty boalts on every thing, there is a lot of gear in there that would cost a bomb to replace,

Hi @Sandy Ground...We have Solar lights on our fencing panels, lights across the boarder of the decking which change 3 colours red/blue/green and down the side boarders, then in the centre we have Rock solar lights..which at night light up the bird dish plus to solar wall lights on the back of the property besides the shed besides a candle holder on the decking

In the winter they still light but don't last long but in the summer it's like Blackpool illuminations :heehee: but so relaxing :dbgrtmb:

As you can see they're around the garden in the pic's but the garden's been altered more since plus new lights added :)

@Gail_68 thanks for posting. I'd almost forgotten about this thread. I have come up with a workable plan for my lighting now. All that is needed is everything being delivered, and some good weather to put it all in place.

@Sandy Ground Yes you have to study the garden and where you think best..i'd advise getting some extra solar batteries because in the past there's always been the odd one or two that haven't worked.
The sun here asn't been that strong today to power the light except three but here's a shot of the two lights on the shed and how bright they make it :)

I would like some kind of light at the bottom of the garden. I would only want it on if we needed get to the shed after dark (we have a chest freezer in the far shed). I am reluctant to hard wire anything in up there as the power supply is already fairly stretched. A solar powered light would be ideal but in the winter months, which is when we would need it, that part of the garden is not in the sun.

I could fit a light to the cat cage. That might get a bit of sun, especially first thing in the morning. Last year I stood the netball post where the big pot is in the picture. I expect to do the same thing this year. This time I plan to buy a soft ball to go with it. A light at that end would have to be durable.

Otherwise a big torch will have to do the job. That’s probably the easiest and safest option anyway. It’s a lot better now I’ve laid that pathway.

@Gail_68 quite right. I should add that a lot of inspiration has come from a book that I am currently reading. As it happens, recommended to me by a GC member.
