    Its just a way of the council making even more money out of us .... thats the way I see it anyway!

    If you cannot take a van to the tip, cannot arrange a skip cheaply then you have no alternative but to use their own removal service, which I think is around £30 for a couple of items. After that the cost goes up even more!

    We've four bins;
    Landfill; collected weekly
    Garden waste; fortnightly
    Paper; monthly
    Plastics & glass; monthly

    The green bin is more than adequate, except in the spring when I clear the lawns of moss and thatch. I could probably fill two or three bins, in the week I do it.
    I've several Post Office woven plastic parcel bags (I didn't pinch them they kept leaving them) which come in handy for excess waste of any description. I re-use them and they've lasted years. I find plastic bags pretty useless.
    I've a 4X4 which is now four years old, but I've always used my cars to take stuff to the tip, even when they were new.
    I either use cardboard to line the boot, or I buy one those plastic sheets you can get for decorating and line the boot with that. The Post Office bags go on top of that and it keeps the boot clean.

    But I always keep a large version of one of those door mats that you can put in the washing machine in the back of my car anyway and I have a Post Office bag attached lengthways to the back of the rear seat backrests.
    This protects the floor and the seat backs from any mud I don't brush off my electric golf trolley.
