As far as I know Gallup 360 is glyphosate, so is round up, its just a stronger version.

I've tried ordinary round up on ivy and it doesn't touch it but Gallup 360 does.

I think you just need to add less water to round up????

Yes agreed Pete, Gallup 360 is stronger but there's also the fact that Round Up has been changed and doesn't work as well. Bracken puts out runners and re-shoots everywhere. Having sprayed the bracken in my garden it also killed the shoots in the neighbouring field up to 30ft away.

depending on plant type there are low temp herbicides like Praxy that can be applied early or late season.

when it comes to Glyphosate not all are equal. Some have added chemicals to help drift, run off, rain fast, hard water efficiency, brake down of cells and so on.

there’s also a residue factor which will be listed as they don’t all break down on contact at the same level.

I use Roundup 360 and the 480 version for general use as there are several versions, others use cheaper variants and add oils/to improve performance ie.Activate-G, Ruby, Codacide and so on. I’ve never had an issue when applying as long as it’s applied to the correct plant type and the timing is correct.

There are times though when you simply avoid use. Sometimes you just have to get stuck in and do the job by hand.

Given the current mild weather conditions I think a glyphosate based weedkiller will knock out those annual weeds, choosing a dry day to apply. Seems a waste to use it on annual weeds but I'm always thinking about the cost of things. Personally I would use a hoe, that size area could be hoed and cleared in the same time it would take me to spray it.

Round up was always glyphosate, it appears it's now just a name for a range of weedkillers, as Weedol is.

The problem is I'm so used to roundup being glyphosate.
I certainly wouldn't buy it without checking what it contains.

                  Agree. :blue thumb:

Even I, at my advanced age :old: :heehee:, would remove them by hoe or digging. I haven't used weed killers for well over 40 years.

As it has not been stated so far a Geo textile membrane will block up over time due to the fines in the soil.

The other point is, as already stated unless the existing grass is matched with the existing turf it will look like a patchwork quilt.

Even if you are available to purchase trade strength weedkillers it does not mean you are safe from prosecution the Statutory label on the back will tell you its uses & need to be stored in a safe place under lock and key with all paperwork to match.

So check the label on the container

:runforhills: it was never meant as a telling off but we learn something new everyday

Any way its not always the person that uses the product at fault but the supplier who has supplied you that gets you into trouble, or the innocent person who is on the receiving end of a product that can cause problems. like I was recently this year painting our picket fence at the bottom of the garden when I got a face full of chemical by a football club volunteer who was spraying in a 30 + mile an hour wind with a dodgy purchase chemical.

Lets say he won't be spraying again.

And I have also seen some rather dodgy spraying by farmers, and so called pros with a certificate.

I think some of us know we are using chemicals that are probably restricted in use and user.

But if the stuff you can buy in garden centres doesn't work what can you expect if its available on line.:dunno:

As I have said before, regarding pesticides as well, one spraying with something that works is much better than multiple sprayings with something that doesn't.
