I use things that are outlawed up here but I use it sparingly. And only as directions allow.

These are chemicals that golf courses and farmers are allowed to continue using because they won't abuse it and broadcast it everywhere as they have accused homeowners of doing. No one has actually proven any of this abusive environmental behaviour of homeowners but that is how they justify outlawing things.

I don't use anything that would kill a bee or other useful garden friends.

But I'd tell them to go jump if someone tried to tell me to get rid of my arsenal. :paladin:

One of those lawn maintenance guys was around the other day telling me he could do weed control for me so I asked him to walk along the lawn out front and point out which ones he was talking about. Yup, he was a little red faced as there wasn't any new weeds to see.

I was thinking of taking the courses put on by the agriculture board in pesticide and herbicide use so as to get a licence to buy the big guns up here but that can wait.

It’s not the suppliers fault if you go to any worth while trade supplier as they too must be trained or under supervision however it’s only applicable to the end user who must hold the relevant training certificates when it’s in use. A supplier can sell all but emergency issued pesticides to who ever but some pesticides are only available for a limited time and require authentication before release.

And most suppliers will just ask is this product being applied by a certificated user. And in which they will supply, I have worked on both sides of the fence and still visit quite a few clubs.

I could drive from here to 4 clubs and find out of date and banned products sitting on a shelf no cosh assessments/ no storage facilities/ no licence/ and no diary of applications. etc etc and most sports clubs just ignore what they know is wrong.

Oh and I have had Organo phosphates left on a bottom of a drive and that's from a main supplier whilst I have been at work.

If I can buy it and it works I will use it, so will a lot of people.

Simple really as most stuff that the general public can buy these days is pretty ineffective, and expensive.

Which is all that is required, it is not illegal to sell to someone who does not hold certificates. I have to inform them that the end user must have the required training and certificates to use the product. If it was illegal to purchase professional pesticides without appropriate training, then that would be a different matter and would result in a supplier being prosecuted.

not at the golf club I’m at. Everything is done by the book and every record is kept. If a club does practice that then everything else will be of poor standard.
If you have concerns about safety then HSE are the ones to contact.

personally on a public forum it’s not my job to criticise or Police what others do.
