Forgot to mention, the jet wash started to strip the current varnish off the decking, so had to abandon that. Will just re-varnish over the top?

 

You could trim the leaves back by about 1/3rd - the plant is having to support all the leaf with reduce / damaged roots, after the move, so removing some of the leaf will give it less "work" to do.

Its not a plant I know well so be interested to hear what others have to say. If its tough-as-old-boots then it may not need any hacking back, it will just look a bit rough for a while until the roots get re-established.

 

Couldn't you use the pressure hose at an angle to the decking to get the dirt but reduce the pressure on the varnish?

I managed to get all the dirt off the decking, but will def need revarnishing just as soon as the weather picks up a bit.

Debating now...I wanted the fencing at the bottom of the garden to be white - country style to match the shed (windowsills will be white, shed green) but the decking at the top of the garden is staying dark so this might look weird.

We're getting the canopy thing on Sunday to grow a trailing plant up, so I need to decide before then. What do you think? Do all the fencing and canopy white, with dark decking, or do all the fencing and canopy dark to match? In which case the shed would probably be best left the colour it is?

Don't think the Photina is going to survive this weather either

 

If it shows signs of stress (blotchy leaves) feed well (Growmore or similar) in the Spring to help it grow strongly and recover.

lol no! But funnily enough when I got the paint brush out he did disappear!

 

Can anyone recommend any nice climbing/trailing plants that can be planted in the boxes next to the pagoda and grow up it? Would be nice to have something that grows quickly and thick, that maybe stays green all year?

 

Another question!

The decking that I managed to pull half the paint off with the jet wash - what do I do with this now?

Can I just buy a tub of Ronseal decking stuff and just go over it, or do I need to try and get as much of the original stain off? What's left on wouldn't come off with the jet wash.
