Can anyone tell me what Clematis flower for the greatest length of time. We all buy large flowered hybrids, which are very showy, but I suspect that some smaller flowered varieties may be in flower for longer. What about Viticellas?

Well, after looking at all of these again, it makes me want to have them growing up every wall and fence in sight!

Peter, the Indecisive can't really be just one plant (or can it???) but the colour arrangement is something else, I do like it.

Its a genuine photograph. When I put up a new fence about 5 years ago, I had a large bare expanse. So I planted about two Clematis per 6 foot fence panel - all at £1.65 each from Morrisons. The result is that some like William Kennet, which is very vigorous, have become really too big, but others are have not grown that much but have just grown into each other. The pink cross is Piilu, the blue is The president, and the plain red is Dr Ruppell.

This is one of several good Clematis sites. http://www.saska.demon.co.uk/hybridns.html

Very good idea and it worked out and you ended up with a really lovely result Peter. The bright colours of the flowers and the leaves look so pretty against the fence.

She is going down at the end of the week to join in the celebrations!
