I'm another from GW, where I was Busy-Lizzie. I was there for 12 years. It's good to see GW friends here and it will be lovely to meet new gardeners from GC. Thank you Gardeners Corner for the lovely welcome you have given us. I live in France (late OH's idea in 1985), 2nd OH lives in Norfolk, we come and go and I have 2 gardens to look after. I saw that @Obelixx-France, @floralies and @Tui34 have already arrived from France. Is @Papi Jo here too?

 

@Ergates if you hover your cursor over any of the icons next to the 'like' one it will tell you what it's for, this also applies to the smilies (emoticons) used. Also, if you go to the location in members personal avatar boxes on the left hand side of posts then click on it, it will then show you a map of that members location.

There is also an icon to show when you are logged in, a small green triangle in the top left corner of your avatar. This is optional and can be altered to be seen or not in your personal details.

I can’t believe how much time I’ve spent on the forum today! I’d better not make a habit of it, won’t get much real gardening done, let alone the housework ( although that can wait as far as I’m concerned!)

 

It's never easy getting used to something new but it will click into place eventually. The garden will look after itself for a few days and housework will always be there. I do mine on bad weather days so it's been very clean and tidy this last year - the rain has been almost non stop.

 

I have arrived so I may still post appallingly sporadically!

 

For those who’ve not found it yet, here’s the part of GC where the comfy chairs, kettles, coffee pots and cake can be found … we can say good morning to friends old and new and chunter on through the day (or night) about the bits and bobs of life, and find a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, and even share the triumphs with
Yawn Yawn Wakey Wakey 2024

The kettle’s on and the coffee’s good (I’ve tested it) someone else will have to test the tea … there may be bacon baps later …

Don’t post so often these days - gardening, holidays and life gets in the way.
But looking forward to being part of this new community. Off to have a good explore now …..

 

So...was a sporadic poster on GW, but wanted to come and join here too. Have used the same user name on both, and have always appreciated the help on GW - was definitely more of a lurker than a poster, but enjoyed the general chat from afar.

Thank you so much, as well, to the admins here who have made everyone feel so welcome - having a dedicated post, linked on the front page, is a really nice thing to do. It is hugely appreciated, and super welcoming.

I'm finding it difficult to find my way round at the moment.
Think some people have changed their names on here @CanadianLori because they are already being used on here by others.
We are a kind and friendly bunch coming over from GW and are just trying to find some familiar faces while we get used to the change.

 

Hi, I have posted occasionally on GW for years, and don’t think of myself as an expert gardener at all. I’ve never felt patronised or pushed out, and have found them to be friendly and helpful. I think you may have happened upon some unfortunate comments by a minority . There has been the odd problem every now and then with one or two users trying to stir up trouble, but this can happen anywhere online. Some GW people have also been posting on here for ages, so you probably already unknowingly know and like them. It will be fine
