@CanadianLori sorry if us expats from GW have you worried, on the whole we are a nice bunch, but GW was very poorly moderated, so we did have some problems with truly obnoxious posters. Hopefully this will not be an issue here.

 

@Emerion is quite right, l don't think you have anything to fear @CanadianLori .

One of the problems with the GW Forum is that it was very much left to its own devices a lot of the time, and that could lead to troublemakers running riot until they were finally shut down.
GC strikes me as totally different, with a group of friendly, helpful mods who won't stand for any nonsense.
@Fat Controller 's post above, giving such helpful advice, is just one example. As the days go by, l am feeling more and more that every cloud has a silver lining .

 

Hi, yet another refugee from GW. I was there for over 15 years but although not a frequent poster I did pop in an out every day and loved hearing about people's lives, looking at their wonderful plants and gardens and learning from others much more knowledgeable than me. It's comforting to see so many familiar names on GC. I really must make an effort join in a bit more.

I was Busy-Lizzie on the GW forum. When I joined here the site said that name was already in use so I had to change it. However, when I click on @Busy-Lizzie it doesn't come up as other members names do. Would it be possible for me to use the Busy-Lizzie name here, please?

 

On Gardener's Corner, if you click on home in the top left hand corner, it brings up a list of posts. You can thne filter by Most Views, Most Replies, Most Likes and Recently Active.

I find this easier.

You can also click on Spy on the right and it brings up a list of new posts.

I have copied and pasted this from my own post on GW - if it is a repetition of anything already said on here I apologise, but I thought it might be useful.

 

I’m really get excited about being a member of this forum! It’s going to take a while to get my head round all the different categories, but so far, it’s all looking good.
Really impressed by the presence of the friendly moderators, and the fact that some of the other refugees from GW have been able to reinstate their original usernames so quickly. It’s been so easy to access helpful advice on getting started.
I’m looking forward to using the selection of response buttons, after being restricted to ‘like’ or ‘report’, I’m going to be spoilt for choice!

It's lovely to see all our old friends gathering here and I hope to make new ones too.
I'm not very technically minded so I think it may take me little time to understand things work but I think it will become clearer eventually.
