I wonder why there is only one gardening programme, one hour a week for all the millions of gardeners is rediculous. There could be one for beguiners and general gardening and another covering different subjects, preferably presented by the R H S now that would be worth watching

Bring back Chris Beardshaw and Rachel De Thame I say:D

I have watched a few of the Victorian Garden programmes recently with old Harry Dodson on Sky and even now I found them very interesting to watch.Even the dubbed in bits are interesting to listen to and it is interesting to see how gardeing was done in Victorian Times:thumb:

I only watch GW now in case I miss something good like the article on Auriculars they had on the other week.I do agree though it has definetly gone down the pan a bit but apart from taking it off the air I can't think what else they can do:scratch:

Oh and by the way,a couple of years ago when we were visitng my sister down in Devon we tried visiting Carol Kleins nursery but couldn't find it so called in the loca Tourist Info place. They gave us directions to find it but said not to bother as many people had gone there and was dissapointed at how run down it was.I expect with her being in demand like the others she hasn't got time to keep on top of her own nursery, not like the likes of Alan and the Berryfield lot that have people that step in to tend to the palnts while the presenters are galavanting off all over the country:p

There isn't only one programme per week-there are hundreds of them The satellite channels show re runs of GW, all the time, plus the Paradise Gardens, Cottage Gardens series from my most beloved gardener Geoff Hamilton.

But it really isn't any excuse-Geoff Hamilton was the first TV gardener I ever really watched, and I knew next to nothing. He is the reason why I started gardening in earnest. The current show has no excuse for being so bad.

Bring back Chris and Rachel and Sarah. We might get somewhere then.

I'm saddened that I feel I have to add my voice to those of you who are disappointed by the "new" GW but I do. I've just spent a hard day, planting in a client's garden and I was looking forward to being entertained by some good gardening.

What I got was really only suitable for CBeebies. I don't blame the presenters, they're only doing what they're told. It's the programme makers going for some non-existent middle ground. I have to own up to the fact that I switched between GW and Britain's Got Talent, which was much more entertaning and managed to appeal to a broad cropss-section of viewers.

I do hope they - the makers - realise wht they've done, pull up their bootstraps and try to get some adult quality back into the programme.

    Yours, sadly

    Better!!!!!!!??????

    For the seemingly increased prattle?

For the staged banter thats like the worst of amateur dramatics comedy?

......... Or maybe better perhaps for the great pond produced from the sort of stuff we all have in our back garden, a section of one by one and a half metre industrial land drain pipe probably worth several hundred pounds that happened to be given free oh and not forgetting the ton of dressed slate that everyone has piled up normally costing £65 a ton!! oh yes and the very large sheet of butyl liner!!!

Lets not forget though that some idiot at the BBC managed to get in a bit about using old sacks to line the base and the possibility of using old carpet!!!! just for those they like to patronize who are on a budget!

The end result or crock of proverbial probably £300 or more later looked a total monstrosity more suited to launching a space shuttle.

I watched it on I player for the humor of it.

Touched a raw nerve there I reckon Paul. But jokes and defending vociferously damsels' honour aside, I Sky plussed it and tried to watch it today. It's terrible-and in view of a comment earlier on about complaining direct I just did.

By the way, my 6yr old just cut a grow bag perfectly. That says it all. I won't bother with it again.

I havent seen G.W. yet as B.B.C. Wales have managed to squeeze it on tonight between the snooker and another repeat, last night was rugby , but at least they are putting it on most weeks they just give it a miss.

I really wish they would not patronise us with expensive equipment ,and huge areas of land, all i really want is good basic advice on what is possible in a normal sized garden,
I thoroughly enjoyed that programme in the summer ,i think it was G.W. top tips , something like that with some time devoted to new ideas but lots of people are trying gardening for the first time and they need lots of help and encouragement
