      Thanks, :dbgrtmb:

The baskets are recovering well and it's always a worry to leave the garden, and the thousands of plants in pots and under cover, at this time of year.

We had a wonderful week in the Lake district with friends. Two of them got engaged (down on one knee job :snork:) at the lake shore. This was followed by a bottle of champagne that he had brought out of his rucksack.

A superb setting for the occasion :wub2:

But we still mustn't forget that there is a fantastic garden to visit up there. The Lakeland Horticultural Society Gardens.

@shiney Stunning places and beautiful hanging baskets.. It's never a good idea having to rely on others. I told ex to water those at the back. Trouble was my whole garden was bone dry, dust yellow, so he only managed to water the bits I had already done twice. You know, even when I was home and watered them, these spots still look bone dry .. :thud::thud::thud:. One good thing is that we have now learned that Wetherspoon do fish&chip and a drink for under a fiver on Friday.. and he told us he enjoyed an 8oz steak for the same price.. We will try that when the menus are agreeable.

Shame that my 6 years' old Davidia involucrata has now died. Not his fault. This happened before I went away and is now a confirmed dodo. It has been just too hot and the pot near the south facing and west facing spot had been too hot for it. It's heartbreaking. I hope our lovely @Tetters can mend my broken heart by posting her teenager's beauty .. Or whoever has one humours me by showing me some photos when it flowers..:wallbanging::wallbanging:

I actually tried to grow them from seeds myself, but it took so long that I cracked open the stones, only to find some green stuff in one or two chambers.. When will I learn? :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging: Might go stone picking again..

@alp We actually have some very good people that volunteer to come and water but the baskets really need it twice a day even though we take them off and put them in the car port in the shade.

No, they're The Lakeland Horticultural Society Gardens. There's no charge to go in :dbgrtmb: but they do have a collection box.

We've been members of the Society for about 30 years, or more. :)

Blimey, I have only just planted our baskets up - and since doing so a couple of the begonias have keeled over. Begonias hate me.

I have only once grown them with anything approaching success, and that was apricot shades in some baskets (which are the ones that have keeled over now), but every attempt otherwise seems to end in failure. I got a beautiful, and I mean gorgeous, begonia at shineyland - wind got it, and snapped it in two places; There is signs of new growth, so I live in hope, but...... begonias hate me.
