You’re welcome @Busy-Lizzie , Bodnant is a lovely place. Unfortunately, the local coach companies only do the one annual trip there so we don’t get to see the proper summer colour. Shame as there are some very promising plants almost ready to bloom.:gaah:

Last week we popped to Painswick's Rococo garden and it was lovely to wander around it and getting some ideas about a pottager I'll be planning in the coming months.

At the far end end of the main kitchen garden they seem to have a big problem with mare's tail...which must be horrible

Chatsworth yesterday. We are very lucky to only live a few minutes away, so go regularly.

The Gardening Club I belong to provided a picnic today to celebrate the club's 20 years. Over 60 of us went. It was held in a fairly local to me Dordogne garden which opens to the public in the afternoons. We all went in the morning today, finishing up with the picnic, very enjoyable. The garden is owned by a very enthusiastic French man and his mother. They are full of ideas and have a lot of roses.

Lavender field, not quite out yet. They make lavender products to sell in their shop.

                      Fabulous pictures @Busy-Lizzie , @Punkdoc, @amancalledgeorge , @Bluejayway .

I'm inspired by the white painted ironwork in the middle of the flower bed Busy-Lizzie, I've got my Mum's old garden gate behind the shed I could repaint - just need to find a suitable spot for it!

@amancalledgeorge , your gorgeous photo of the white rotunda? inspired me many years ago to use the design on a blanket chest I was making out of a neighbour's old wooden wardrobe he was throwing out (I went to a womens woodwork course at the time). I think my daughter's still got it. That was the first time we'd been to Painswick not long after it was renovated and opened to the public. Must go again!

Yesterday we visited 3 open gardens. Two were charming village courtyard gardens, the third was much bigger and very tidy but a bit dull.
Photos of the 2 village gardens.

Do you mean behind the planting @Ladybird4? It's a low rendered wall painted white. Hedge behind it.

Yes, @Busy-Lizzie, that is what I meant. It makes perfect sense now you have told me what it is. At first I thought it was protective garden fleece. Thank you for putting me right!
