you can tell the difference because the females have a swollen part behind the flower head that will eventually turn into a pumpkin if pollinated.

there are 4 jacko lantern pumpkin plants in that patch and 2 sugar pumpkins, you can see that 2 at the front have different shaped leaves and a slightly different colour these are the sugar pumpkins and the smaller ones at the top left are squashes. I may have planted too many lol. I have another patch with 6 plants in which seem to flowering very well (I think this could be because of the soil acidity).

loli I may be wrong but I thought that the males aren't always on long stems ive noticed some growing right on the vine. do they eventually all end up growing stems?

Yeah come join us Yvonne and fetch a few more bottles lol.

Hi everyone, I'm new and am growing two ghost rider pumpkin plants in containers. These plants were presents to my boys from a family member in april and we didn't really know what to do with them. We put One in a pop up greenhouse with my other plants and the other outside. We live in the north of Scotland. The one inside the greenhouse has one pumpkin and is doing well measuring 63cm all the way around but its starting to turn orange already. Does anyone know if this is too early and will it continue to grow if it does turn orange? thanks

Not been sulking I promise, just making the most of beautiful weather:biggrin:

This is a picture of my Jumbo Pink Banana plants, and I have a healthy number of both male and female flowers plus regular visits from the bees, so fingers crossed!

                Day 63 (I think!):

I've now got two female flowers and plenty of males (nothing flowering yet though):

Are these roots ready to be rooted? There's bits like these at each 'joint':

Hello and welcome to the forum gill :)

It is very early, my guess is because you have started it so early and it's inside a greenhouse it may well have slowed down. Don't give up on it and give it some feed, are there any more flowers coming?

                    Thanks
Yes we got the plants very early. We had two other baby pumpkins but they shrivilled up early on and the plant is only producing male flowers now. We are hopeful for this one surviving pumpkin and its looking good so far. Im feeding it tomatoe rite once a week and lots of water as it seems to be a thirsty plant. I will try and put up a photo if I can work out how too. The other plant is outside as didn't have enough room in the greenhouse. Its pumpkin is growing but its alot smaller. i read somewhere that pumpkins can last up to 90days off the vine if kept in a cool dry place and washed in one park bleach and 9 parts water first but nit sure if that's true.

                    Finally worked it out :)
Here is our pumpkin, starting to turn orange at the ends, more so at the vine end that you can't see in this photo.
