What are you guys going to do with your pumpkins, pray tell?

Pumpkin pie is gorgeous but too fattening. Here in Algarve they make pumpkin jam and serve it with ... soft goat's cheese for a starter ... superb and to die for. My Sis loved it so much she went back to Germany and devised her own jam, adding a little ginger to it!

The last two years I have given around half of my carved out pumpkin away, some of that is given to Sudanese women in the village who makes the most amazing pies ever, and the rest goes to a food serving pub in Cockermouth so they can make Pumpkin soup (or whatever they choose) for Halloween, I do this because during our severe floods in 2009...they offered free food to anyone involved in the rescues on the night of the floods. The other half I cook and purree for use later on in soup. My smaller pumpkins are stored for later use, ie for roasting etc.

Yes there is, and anyone can enter that, if you have not grown your own and buy one to carve then that is fine...the more the merrier and GC members will vote for a winner.

              Steve...:)
