How people leave messages on your answering service/machine.

Hey people, if your phone number is the most important bit of information, for heavens sake, don't rattle it off like an auctioneer! Slow down so I can write it down without having to repeat your message over and over to decipher your blurr..

I just never call them back. If they're really desperate to contact me, they'll just try again.

Checked my stalk out on Angelina tonight. To do her rear, it's a firm push forward, and hold it there for a bit. The front is a pull towards me.

Hi Northants, it sounds like you're having a good end to your birthday with Angelina :)

Just remember you're another year older now, so be gentle on the pushes and pulls :roflol:

That's how I handle all calls by using the Answer Phone. Then if I recognise a voice I will answer. If it's a cold call then I let the Cats deal with it.:cat-kittyandsmiley::heehee:

I use caller i.d. If I don't recognise the number, I don't answer it, and the answering machine kicks in :)

Only just come across this thread  and am working my way through it. :noidea:

Folding arms is always an interesting point towards what the person is thinking/feeling. In general it's a defensive position but it can also depend on how they hold their hands whilst doing it. With clenched fists tends to indicate aggressive/defensive attitudes. With hands open on upper arms tends to indicate superiority. Try it and see how you feel :)

I used to help one of the big manufacturers train their new sales reps and deliberately reversed body language when they were brought in to try and sell to me at work :snork:. It was important to see how long it took for them to catch on.

Nowadays I have a different reason for standing with legs apart and arms crossed. Legs apart - to keep me steady, and arms folded - to support my back :old:

Never quite understood this one.

I would want to wash my hands before using the toilet - don't want to handle myself with dirty hands! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Then wash again afterwards. There should also be a bin by the door so that you can take a piece of toilet paper, or a tissue, and use it to open the door (after the handle has been used by people who don't wash their hands).

Although I'm fussy about spelling and punctuation I don't think it matters a great deal on friendly forums. What we want in these situations is a friendly interchange of ideas without the participants having to worry about whether they are going to be criticised for not having had the advantage of correct elucidation of grammar and comprehension. :heehee:

GC is here for friendly discourse and I really appreciate that members are willing to post on here, quite often with very important ideas, without the need to worry that they will be criticised.

Regular members also know that I do criticise grammar and spelling if it's incorrectly used by college/university students that ask us to complete their research questionnaires. :nonofinger: I also decry grammatical misuse in a business situation.

There's a time and place for everything. :)

Spell checkers don't always work too well, either! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Yes, @shiney body language is an interesting study area. The crossing arms is one from way back when I worked in a Psych hosp. not to cross your arms around patients.

                      I have it :old:

Those absolute plonkers who stand behind TV reporters and try to be funny by making gestures, or just looking stoopid (or both).

Which reminds me, I may be on TV soon :)
I was at Sywell when they were recording for 'Last flight of the Vulcan' with Guy Martin :)
I expect that they will have edited me out though, if I was caught in the filming. It's on this weekend.

Edit: TV..... as in television :blue thumb:

Driving at night, in the rain, you give way to an oncoming vehicle at a junction, and they 'thank' you by giving you a flash of their main beam. Thank you fellow courteous driver, for completely destroying my night vision for the next few minutes until my eyes readjust after being laser cannoned.

Flashing a driver to pull out of a turning, then flashing them again, 'and' again.....and then having to wait for them to wake up/(regain vision :heehee:) before they actually move!
                              Probably texting!
